White Kirkley Footbridge
I’ve recently been advised by Paul N from Northumberland LDWA that the footbridge over the Bollihope Burn (pictured) in Fineburn Quarry, White Kirkley, on Section 5 of the Weardale Way has been closed due to its being unsafe. I visited on 13/02/25 and found the advice to be correct with an advisory diversion in place until the completion of the works scheduled for March 2025. Although the bridge has been closed since September 2024 it appears that work has yet to be started so it could be that the diversion persists beyond its initial period. In normal conditions the burn is crossable via the adjacent ford, as pictured, but unless the water’s unusually low you might get your feet wet!
