Guide Books: Latest Update

Durham Cow Pocket Guides - Weardale Way & Teesdale WaySadly, for the many of you who have expressed an interest in our guide books I just wanted to confirm that due to the situation caused by the pandemic, I’ve decided to postpone publication of the second edition of The Weardale Way – A Guided Tour along the River Wear through County Durham & Sunderland as well as the first edition of its companion publication The Teesdale Way, until early 2021. They may possibly be available for Christmas depending on how the commercial situation with the hospitality sector shapes up. Personally, I’m really disappointed but life goes on. Copies have been reserved for everyone who has already contacted me – you can do likewise by adding a comment below. All the best for now. Scott

    1. Hi Diane,

Yes we are. We’re waiting for the Teesdale Way to come back from the printers within the next two weeks hopefully. I’m still working on the Weardale Way but hope to get it finished within a month after which it’ll need to go to the printers. It’s taken a bit longer than anticipated due to lots of improvements but I think they’re worth the wait. We’re pleased with them. I’ll let you know as soon as we get the Teesdale Way in. Thanks for your patience.

      All the best

  1. Hi Scott,

My friends and I have just finished the Daft as a Brush River Tyne Trail and have decided to walk the Wear next. Please put me down for a copy of both books please. We’ll hopefully tackle the Tee’s after the Wear.

    1. Hi Joy,

I confess I hadn’t heard of this one but I have now: well done for having completed 135 miles! How long did it take? I think you’ll find the Weardale Way will fit the bill for the next challenge nicely. I’ve put you down for a couple of books.

All the best and happy walking

      1. Hi and thanks for putting my name down.

We had originally planned that the walk would take us a year. We were due to do the final stage at the end of March but covid put a stop to that. We eventually finished a few days ago so it took us a year and a half. My dog was with me for the entire walk too. Part of the reason it took so long was because there was 3 of us doing it and we had to try and match up dates we were all available. There is now 6 of us and 3 dogs doing the Weardale way so goodness knows how long that’s going to take !

  2. I would love for you to reserve one copy of each for me please, and I look forward to when they become available. Thank you for doing this work making it easier to explore the area.

    Hi Scott

Definitely interested in completing both these walks at some stage in the future, they sound awesome. Can you please put my name on the Reserve list for a copy of each guide book when you finally manage to get them to print.

Good luck & all the best Scott.

I would definitely be interested in these when you get them published for my 4 holiday cottages
